So I went to this tiny liberal arts college in Newport, Rhode Island where I surrounded myself with all things artsy-fartsy. My teachers encouraged me to explore my individuality, push beyond my comfort zone and find my own creative voice.  When I started working in photojournalism my mentors and co-workers helped me see my camera as a window to the truth and my job as a way of sharing other people’s stories.   I learned to have respect for the subject and to approach my photography with integrity and honesty. Basically, I got paid to photograph truth.

Now my passion has evolved into bringing these two worlds of photography together. Combing creative artistic expression with the integrity so deeply rooted in photojournalism.  Capturing that moment of excitement and anticipation right before something big happens; finding the scene behind the scene and capture details that others might miss; connecting with my subject and watching the atmosphere of trust and comfort develop in the photos.  You can call it artistic documentation, I call it taking cool pictures of people without all of the rules.

Seattle is where I happily call home and you may have seen my photos in The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Seattle PI, The King County Journal and Sound Publishing Newspapers.

When I’m not taking pictures I’m busy being a full time mom, taking naps in yoga class, trying to brainwash my kids into liking better music and traveling the world with my favorite person (who also happens to be my husband).
