Meghan E Jones is a photojournalist and artist who is figuring her shit out.
Based in Seattle, she is currently creating 3D photo sculptures that appear to be growing up telephone poles, experimenting with printing her photos on the wrong side of photo paper, creating trauma-informed lesson plans for her Path With Art teaching gig, and pondering where to hang glowing microscopic images of her dead grandmother’s jewelry. Her photography gives a film noir vibe, starkly contrasting images with deep blacks that pierce through reflections of light. Meghan finds inspiration in the closed eyes of singing concertgoers and the personal struggles of the subject on the other side of the camera. She chases that magical connection between humans and captures it with her fancy Leica camera or an iPhone, whichever is closer.
Meghan graduated from Salve Regina University with a BA in photography and art history and is currently working on her MFA at SVA in NYC. She’s best known for a photo she took of shoppers running into a Walmart on Black Friday that was on the cover of the New York Times and in TIME magazine, and was also framed by her mother.
